CloudLinux Server 5.5 x64 image notes

CloudLinux is an operating system (OS) that is commercially supported and compatible with the most popular RPM-based distribution on the market..
CloudLinux delivers better efficiency and stability to drive a more profitable operation for shared hosting providers and datacenters.
CloudLinux increases server density by improving stability and reliability using isolation technology to create Lightweight Virtual Environments (LVE) Proprietary to CloudLinux, LVEs deliver better resource management by limiting the amount of resources any site can use, so that no single account can slow or take down a whole server

Shared hosters benefits:

  • Increase the number of accounts per server, reducing hardware, electricity, data center space and management costs
  • Isolation technology prevents any single site from hogging resources or taking down a server
  • Improved security reduces outages and means less support time spent managing down servers
  • Datacenter’s benefits:

  • Well tested, commercially supported and maintained OS
  • Better security reduces churn and the costs associated with security support issues
  • CloudLinux was fine tuned to work well with most popular control panels
  • Fully tested for reliability
  • The service version (shown in native reported format ) is:

    # cat /etc/redhat-release
    CloudLinux Server release 5.5
    # uname -r
    2.6.18-294.3.1.el5.lve0.6.22xen
    # rpm -qa|grep lve
    lve-0.6rc6-20100517.el5.cloudlinux.1
    lve-utils-0.3-0.2.20100521git.el5.cloudlinux

    Enabling/Desabling LVE

Edit the /etc/sysconfig/lve and setting LVE_ENABLE
Setting it to yes will enable LVE, setting it to no will disable LVE
You need to reboot the server, after you set this option.

    Adjusting LVE default values

Values set in /etc/container/ve.cfg are used by default when processes are run within LVE You can edit that file, and run /etc/init.d/lvectl restart To adjust the values
